Rudrapur: A Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) was opened in Udham Singh Nagar headquarters Rudrapur on Tuesday. Residents of the district, who till now had to travel to Dehradun to get their passports done or renew them, welcomed the development. MP Bhagat Singh Koshyari inaugurated the facility at the city post office.
“The centre will largely benefit the people living in this region,” Koshyari said. Regional passport officer, Dehradun, Rishi Angra said, "Appointments will be provided to 50 people every day. The appointment forms are available online. As of now, one counter has been opened and the infrastructure will be expanded in due course of time. The ministry of external affairs and the department of posts plan to open PSKs at every 50 km radius in the state.”

Post master general, Vinay Kumar Tiwari, said that the India Post will soon open 214 post offices in the state. "PSKs at Kathgodam and Nainital will also be operational soon," he said. The first PSK of Kumaon region was opened in Almora on February 18.
